Sharing Blankets

  • NPWH Longhouse 70956 Whiskey Creek Road Wallowa, OR, 97885 United States (map)

The gathering aims to generate a discussion on the significance of the blanket as symbol in contemporary Northwest Native culture. The exhibition will be shaped by traditional Native aesthetics and by the individual Native identity of each artist. Each participating artist will create a blanket to exhibit at the Nez Perce Wallowa Homeland on May 4th, 2019. Participating artists will engage in a community building process with each other through bi-monthly communication and one team meeting. Three artists will be selected to be a part of this exhibition. The fourth exhibiting artist is the show Director, Britt Rynearson, a member of the Colville Tribe with Nez Perce ancestry.
