Reservation Information

Please read the following for information on fees and terms of use for our facilities.

Note: The longhouse can only be reserved by visitors with Native/tribal status.

Fees & Deposits

Automatic Discounts

• Native individuals and Native-led groups receive a 50% discount.

• A 50% discount is also available for residents of Wallowa County.

Need-Based Fee Reductions (Native Use Only)

• For Native individuals or Native-led groups, the Dance Arbor fee may be further reduced below the discounted rate based on financial need.

• Please contact the Executive Director to discuss need-based fee reductions.

Group and Community Discounts

• Discounted rates may be available for fundraisers, school groups, or community events.

• For groups with a history of annual or recurring events at Nez Perce Wallowa Homeland, previously agreed-upon rates will be honored when possible, or discounted rates may be offered to maintain affordability.

Deposits and Payment Schedule

• A refundable security deposit equal to 50% of the total rental fee is required at the time of reservation to secure the date.

• The remaining balance is due no later than seven (7) days prior to the event date.

Agreement Terms

1. Priority Use: Indigenous use of facilities is a priority. In the event of a funeral or ceremonial need, NPWH reserves the right to cancel Longhouse or Kitchen reservations up to one week in advance. In such cases, all fees paid will be fully refunded.

2. Tamkaliks Blackout: Events at the Dance Arbor may not be scheduled within two weeks before or two weeks after the annual Tamkaliks Celebration which typically occurs the third weekend in July.

3. Cancellations:

   1. Kitchen/Longhouse: Full refund if canceled 7 or more days in advance of scheduled use.

   2. Dance Arbor:

      1. Full refund if canceled 14+ days in advance.

      2. Rental fee refunded (deposit forfeited) if canceled 7+ days in advance.

   3. Refunds for late cancellations may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

4. Emergency Use: NPWH reserves the right to yield any reservation to USFS fire camps in the event of an emergency. A full refund will be issued in such cases.

5. Facility Care and Cleaning:

   1. There is a cleaning fee for the historic farmhouse of $75.

   2. A cleaning checklist is attached and must be completed before departure. Facilities must be left in good condition. Equipment will be inventoried post-event.

   3. Refrigerators and freezers must be emptied or left as found.

   4. Unopened food may be donated to NPWH or the local food bank.

   5. Trash: Renters must remove all trash using their own bags. No disposal services are on-site.

6. Alcohol: Any alcohol service must comply with Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC) regulations. No alcohol is allowed in the longhouse under any circumstances.

7. Damages and Liability: Renters are liable for all damage or loss. NPWH may retain deposits or invoice for full replacement costs.

8. Use of grounds: Use of the land is not exclusive. Renters may not restrict public access to open grounds.

9. Camping and Vehicles: Camping and RV use must be approved in advance by NPWH staff. Camping is not allowed inside the Dance Arbor. For weddings or other specific events, tent camping fees may be waived and included in the rental fee.

10. Restrooms: Portable toilets are required for events with 50+ attendees or 25+ overnight guests.

11. Keys: All issued keys must be returned promptly following the event. Lost keys may result in lock replacement charges.

12. Respect for the Homeland: All renters and guests are expected to treat the Homeland grounds and facilities with respect at all times.
